At Folsom High School’s National Letter of Intent Signing Day, Eleven Folsom High School Athletes were recognized. Kat Copeland is a Cross Country and Track & Field athlete. Her Coach, Steve Kinoshita introduced her to the audience.
Kat originally transferred here from Washington halfway through her freshmen year. When her previous high school coach found out that Kat had registered at Folsom High School, he felt so strongly that Kat was a special athlete, that he called Coach Kinoshita to let him know that Folsom High School had just received a “gift”. Coach Kinoshita soon found out that everything her previous coach said was true. Kat is an athlete of high character, dedication, competitiveness and a genuine team player.
Kat has been a varsity athlete since her freshman year. Through the years, she has been named the Folsom Telegraph’s Athlete of the Week numerous times and has been the XC and T&F team MVP several times. In Track and Field she has improved her PR (Personal Record) to 5:07 mile, 11:20 two mile,10:26 3000m an 2:25 800m.
Kat has qualified for Section and Masters every year and has also been a State Qualifier twice. Her goal is to qualify for State again this Spring.
Kat is the most coachable player that Kinoshita has ever worked with and is an inspirational runner for her teammates and coaches. She will give it her all for every single race and even fall to her knees because she given everything she could possibly give.
Kat should be really proud of herself, because only 5% of high school athletes move on to college level Track and Field and she has earned a scholarship for UC, Santa Barbara.
Best of Luck Kat! Folsom is Bulldog Proud of You!!!
