)Sacramento County Updates:Due to our County requirements, we are turning in all the appropriate applications to be able to start sports at Folsom High School. Once the county approves the applications, our district will then be able to decide about allowing our athletes to start participating in competitions.

)CIF Section Updates: On Tuesday January 26, the CIF Section (SJS) approved that all leagues in the section, will make their own sports schedules for the remainder of this school year. The CIF Section Bylaws will all still apply, but the dates can change. The schedules will all have to comply with the county colored tiers, but it will allow for more flexibility to help move towards allowing each sports program to compete. As a result, along with color tier and travel restrictions, the decision was made by the SJS, to cancel all SJS playoffs for all sports for the 2020-2021 school year. Also, the designation of “Season 1 and Season 2 sports” are no longer applicable. The season start dates will be assigned as the county reaches that COVID color tier in which the specific sport can begin. For example, if the county enters the red tier on 3/1/2021, then that would be the season start date for the red-tier sports.

4) Multisport Athlete Updates:The health guidelines currently prohibit athletes from participating in multiple sports at one time.  So, for example golfers cannot participate with baseball at the same time. They can only be in one cohort. Usually the following would not be true, but because of the unusual nature of sports participation this year, the FHS athletic department will allow, without penalty, athletes currently participating in one tier sport to quit that sport and play in the another sport once that sport’s tier has been reached.

)Bylaw 600 Updates: As a reminder, the SJS reinstated the Bylaw 600 rules, to be in compliance with the current CDHP guidelines. See the link below, regarding restrictions for athletes participating in club sports.

)Spectator and Fan Protocols Updates:Practices are still closed to spectators. Practices are drop off and pick up only.  Please remain in your car in the parking lot if you arrive early for pick up. If for some reason you need to talk with a coach or go on campus, masks are required at all times. We do not have specific guidelines yet from our district with regards to fans spectating at games or matches.  I hope to have the information for you early next week.
