Happy New Year!
Folsom Basketball finishes a long, successsful month of tournament action. All basketball teams have competed very well in numerous tournaments. Our varsity teams traveled from San Diego to Reno Nevada. And all our teams combined, won 11 tournament championships!
Varsity Boys BB (#6 Section, #67 State)
The Boys Varsity team defeated Clayton Valley Charter in the CRC Shootout, 81-54
Then they traveled to Nevada from November 28-December 1, to compete in the Wild West Shootout and they defeated South Tahoe, 62-22, lost to Spanish Springs 41-51 and defeated Faith Lutheran 75-51.
The next week our varsity team headed to the Chico area, to Pleasant Valley HS, to compete in the McDonald’s Winter Classic, December 6-8. They defeated Clovis East in a close game 68-67, Pleasant Valley 53-49 and lost to Whitney 56-63.
The Bulldogs then played in two non-league matches. The first on December 11 at Capital Christian and won in overtime 64-63. The second game on December 15, was against the #1 ranked team in Nevada, (#9 in the nation), Wasatch Academy. They played a very respectful game, however lost 63-76.
On December 20-22, the Bulldogs stayed home and hosted the annual Folsom Bulldog Classic. They won the tournament by defeating McClatchy 72–36, Consumes Oaks 72–49 and Davis 68-55.
The Boys Varsity team completed their month of tournaments, by playing in the St Hope Elite Hoop Classic at Sacramento HS, December 27-29. They first defeated Sacramento 74-68 in a non-league game on December 26, then lost to Pleasant Valley, 60-74, defeated Christian Brothers 76-34 and finished with a “nail bitter” win over Pleasant Grove 67-65.

The Bulldogs go into the Sierra Foothill league play on Friday, January 4, at 7:00pm in the Big Gym, with a 12-4 overall record.
Junior Varsity Boys BB
The JV boys team won 3 of 5 tournaments!
They first competed in the Running with the Pack Tournament. They defeated Monterey Trail 70-30, Franklin(EG), 54-44 and River Valley 63-42.
They next played in the Winter Warrior Tip-off. They defeated Valley 87-42, Fortune Early College 70-28 and McNair 87-26.
Next, they hosted the Folsom JV Jamboree and defeated Franklin(EG) 49-33 and Woodcreek 63-57. They lost by one point in the finals versus Sheldon 64-65.
The following week they played in the JV portion of the Folsom Bulldog Classic and defeated Davis 85-74, Franklin(EG), 64-32 and Cosumnes Oaks 65-42.
The Boys JV BB team competed in one final tournament, the Whitney Winter Classic and defeated Sacramento 87-69, lost to Christian Brothers 68-74 and defeated Whitney 56-43.
They ended their preseason 13-2 overall. They start their SFL league competition on Thursday, January 3 at 7:00pm in the Auxiliary Gym.
Frosh/Soph Boys BB
The Frosh/Soph Boys won 2 of 5 tournaments.
They started with the Del Campo Cougar Classic and defeated Chico 68-50, lost to Jesuit, 54-57 and defeated Vacaville 63-42.
They then competed in the tough Sheldon Christmas Classic and defeated Freedom, 53-50, and lost two games to Sheldon 41-82 and Jesuit 51-64.
The Bulldogs went on to win their next two tournaments. They competed in the Timberwolves Freshman Classic. They defeated Roseville 73-40, Whitney, in overtime, 61-50 and defeated Woodcreek 59-42 in the championship game. They then defeated Franklin (EG) 74-43, Cosumnes Oaks, in overtime, 84-78 and Ponderosa 67-45 in the Ponderosa Classic.
In between the two tournaments Folsom took on Nevada Union, in a nonleague game and won, 65-38. In another non-league game on December 26, the Bulldogs lost to Sacramento 46-73.
The Bulldogs then finished their December tournaments at the Jesuit Christmas Classic. They lost to Christian Brothers 39-47, defeated Granite Bay 45-41 and lost to Jesuit 70-51.
The Freshman Boys Basketball team finished their season 11-6 overall. They start the SFL league play on Thursday, January 3 at 5:30pm in the Auxiliary Gym.
Varsity Girls BB (#4 Section, #25 State)
The Girls Varsity team had a great start to the season, winning 3 of 4 tournaments.
They first competed in the Dorothy Speck Tournament at Davis HS, November 29-December 1. They defeated Nevada Union 36-27 and West Campus, 45-44 and top ranked McClatchy (#3 Section, #22 State) 41-39.
They next competed and won the Roseville Elite Showcase Tournament, on December 6-8, by defeating Inderkum 51-41, St. Ignatius 45-31 and Granite Bay 56-47.
After a week off, the Bulldogs continued their tournament success at the Trojan Toss-up at Oak Ridge HS on December 20-22. They defeated Inderkum 58-40, Cosumnes Oaks 44-36 and Christian Brothers 41-33.
Finally, the Bulldogs traveled to San Diego to play in a four day tournament, the So Cal Holiday Prep Classic on December 26-29. They won a close game against North Creek 75-74, lost to JSierra 48-54, defeated Mira Mesa 75-44 and lost to a tough team, Bishop’s in a close game 41-49.

Junior Varsity Girls BB
The JV Bulldogs, under new coach Andy Kreiser, were off to a great start by winning the Dorothy Speck Tournament at Davis HS. They defeated Nevada Union 55-33, Davis 46-43 and Ukiah 55-21.
Their next tournament, the Jan Ichiho Memorial Tournament, they won 2 of 3 games, Center 55-14 and Franklin 48-25. Their only loss was in the first round vs Saint Francis 38-45.
Their third tournament, brought them home to compete in the annual Folsom-Vista Classic at Vista Del Lago HS. They struggled a little bit in this tournament only defeating Franklin(EG) 57-29. Their two losses were close games against a strong McClatchy team, 32-34 and Davis 45-51.
Then the JV team, took a break from tournament play to compete against Vista Del Lago, for the win 51-35.
Next the JV were back at it for one final tournament for the 18-19 season, the Jan Vital Tournament. They defeated Ponderosa 64-30 and El Dorado 73-29. They next came up against a tough Del Oro team and lost 47-53.
The JV Girls Basketball team finished with a 9-4 overall record. They will start SFL league play on Friday, January 4 at 4:00 PM in the Big Gym.
Frosh/Soph Girls BB
Our Frosh/Soph Girls team, also with a new coach, Jamie Collins, competed in multiple games in November and December.
The Bulldogs started with a non-league game vs Christian Brothers and won 38-18.
They then started tournament play, by winning the Jan Ichiho Memorial Tournament. They defeated St. Francis, in overtime, 30-25, Inderkum 36-30 and Franklin (EG) 25-17.
Next they competed in the Folsom-Vista Classic and defeated El Camino 57-29 and River Valley 46-42. The Bulldogs tallied their first loss in the Championship game vs Del Oro 27-46.
The Bulldogs then played a nonleague game vs Vista Del Lago and lost 23 to 35.
Back to tournament play, The Bulldogs competed in the Jan Vital Tournament. They defeated Sierra 47-39 and Ponderosa 35-16. The team then suffered their final loss 22-48 vs Vista Del Lago.
The Girls Frosh/Soph Basketball team finished with an 8-3 record overall. They will start SFL league play on Thursday, January 3 at 4:00pm in the Auxiliary Gym.
