Folsom High School
Folsom Varsity Boys Basketball lost in a nail biter to St Mary’s last night, 68-69.
Folsom started off a little slow on offense in the first quarter, 11-19.
However in the second quarter their offense turned on and the Bulldogs brought the game back to within 3 points, 26-29.
In the third quarter Folsom continued to battle St Mary’s 39-44.
In the fourth quarter is when Folsom caught up and took the lead with 3:15 left on the time clock. From here the lead shifted back and forth. Folsom was up by 1 point at the :25 mark, and then they scored 2 more points on free throws, making the score 53-50. But then at the 1 second mark St Mary’s scored a three pointer, tying the game and sending it into overtime.
During overtime the score continued to go back-and-forth. At the :09 mark, Folsom was down two points and were bringing the ball in from out of bounds on the opposite court endline. The ball was thrown to Martis Johnson and he took the ball the entire length of the floor and scored on a layup, which brought the score back to tied once again, ending the first overtime 61-61.
In the second overtime, the score again went back and forth. The Bulldogs lead 65-61 at the 2:36 mark, then tied 65-65 at
the 1:10 mark, Folsom then went back in the lead with less then a minute on the board. Then with just 2-3 seconds left in the game, St Mary’s scored again and won the game 68-69, ending Folsom’s Section Playoff run.
It was a heartbreaker for the Folsom team and their fans, however the Bulldogs gave everything they could on the court and there was no denying that!
